M\u00e4rz 2014, zwischen 20.30 und 21.30 Uhr Ortszeit.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Was wie ein zuf\u00e4lliger Stromausfall klingen mag, ist eine weltweite Bewegung namens &#8222;Earth Hour&#8220;, die vom &#8222;World Wide Fund for Nature&#8220; (WWF) organisiert wird. Tausende St\u00e4dte in 150 L\u00e4ndern \u00fcberall auf der Welt nahmen an der &#8222;Earth Hour&#8220; 2014 teil, einem Projekt, das jedes Jahr als Zeichen des Klimaschutzes am letzten Samstag im M\u00e4rz stattfindet. Die &#8222;Earth Hour&#8220; nahm ihren Anfang 2007 in Sydney, Australien. San Francisco folgte im Oktober 2007 mit seiner eigenen &#8222;Earth Hour&#8220;. Im M\u00e4rz 2008 beteiligten sich 26 Gro\u00dfst\u00e4dte an der &#8222;Earth Hour&#8220; und machten f\u00fcr eine Stunde ihre Lichter aus. Ein Jahr sp\u00e4ter nahmen am 28. M\u00e4rz 2009 schon 4.159 St\u00e4dte in 88 L\u00e4ndern teil.<\/p>\n<p>Das erste Mal, dass ich von der &#8222;Earth Hour&#8220; geh\u00f6rt habe, war im M\u00e4rz 2009, als ich in Bangkok war. Ich war nicht vorbereitet, deswegen genoss ich einfach den Blick aus meinem Hotelzimmer \u00fcber den dunklen Menam Chao Phraya-Fluss. Etwas sp\u00e4ter nahm ich mir ein Taxi und fuhr durch die dunklen Stra\u00dfen Bangkoks.<\/p>\n<p>In den folgenden Jahren beging ich die &#8222;Earth Hour&#8220; zuhause und habe einfach alle Lichter ausgemacht und ein paar Kerzen angez\u00fcndet. Dieses Jahr beschlossen Bengt und ich, von der anderen Rheinseite aus zu beobachten, wie sich der K\u00f6lner Dom verdunkelt. Wir \u00fcberquerten die Hohenzollernbr\u00fccke und gesellten uns zu ein paar Leuten, die beleuchtete LED-Buchstaben mitgebracht hatten, mit denen sie verschiedene S\u00e4tze und Zeichen formten.
