Who is “The Travelling Colognian”? I am Vanessa a writer and photographer in her thirties from Cologne in Germany. I would call myself a curious, open-minded, adventurous, but sometimes also thoughtful person, as someone, who loves to meet people from all over the world and to explore other cultures and countries. Travelling is my passion. This is where “The Travelling” in my blog name stands for. I am not only making travel plans, I try to realize as many of them as possible. I love to travel all over the world but for the last ten years I have a huge consistently increasing love for Asia and for everything which has to do with Asia. I have been incredibly lucky to be able to visit eleven asian countries in the past four years. A very famous quotation of Mark Twain describes my attitude very well.

I love to write and photograph which matches perfectly with my travels. I also like to read good books and I am very interested in politics. My other interests are cooking – especially Asian food -, dancing and fitness.
I grew up close to and in the city of Cologne aka Köln. After graduating from school I did a dual vocational education and training as a legal assistant in a lawyer’s office and, after I got my certificate, I worked in this job for another couple of months. Then I moved to Mainz, a town close to Frankfurt, where I studied journalism, political science and law. Besides I already worked as a journalist in all media sectors. After ten years in Mainz, I felt that it is time to move back to my hometown Cologne. Even though I am feeling at home in cities all over the world very quickly, I am feeling as a real Colognian and this is where the “Colognian” in my blog name stands for.
